Swimming ..

  By _ram-jaane' on September 28, 2005 11:35 AM | No Comments

So I went swimming yesterdayafter many many yonks (Feb) .. & bloody hell, 7 lengths & i was knackered. Back in Feb I could do 29 an hour. This is terrible business. Need to get back into practice. I think I'll make a point of going once a week. Having said this a lot of such activities remain pending due to the house sale in Leicester being delayed since Mid-August. I have been informed there should only be 3 weeks further. But how it really pans out only time will tell. I'm beginning to enjoy these late shifts at work as it means I use the mornings wisely, evening tend to go wasted in the summer. With winter approaching I will rise once more from the half-dead & make pi a million times. m0stly.

Happy Birthday ...

Power Rant #220905.1

  By _ram-jaane' on September 22, 2005 4:15 PM | No Comments

So it comes to me like an epiphany pending for years on end to reveal itself. Power is not only information but the usage of it. Eg; Knowing your weaknesses help you cover them up or work them out whichever is most appropriate. Some of you know some of mine & I have even been exploited by them unknowingly numerous times. Amongst many pensive days in the last month, I have found some of these reach their ripened fruition. I'd be an idiot to discuss them here, (as I expect my friends to betray me given the right chance & motive) but I am constructively now taking a lot of actions to tone these down to neutral if not make them my strengths.

Red Eye

no not pinkeye!
ORANGE WEDNESDAY:  Red Eye' ..
Runtime: 84m 56s - UK Rated: 12A
Tagline: Fear Takes Flight

Plot Outline
After attending the funeral of her grandmother in Dallas, Lisa Reisert must take the dreaded red eye flight back to Miami to make it to work the next day. Lisa soon meets Jackson Ripner and their attraction grows. But moments after take-off, Jackson reveals to Lisa her father's wallet that he swiped off his desk and his real reason for being on board. Jackson needs Lisa's help to kill the deputy secretary of Homeland Security who's scheduled to stay at the Lux Atlantic Hotel, the hotel Lisa is the manager of. If she refuses ..

Overall Impressions:
Short and Sweet. Cillian Murphy is doing very well for himself. Though you don't see this as a classic it sure showcases his talent. Its also good to see Rachel McAdams trying new things, we last saw her in Wedding Crashers which didn't have much scope for her to shine though she does leave an impression. Is it me, or does she almost resemble Jennifer Garner??!

Weak End

Well I hung out in Leicester with the old crew. My Batman T-shirt from the Colchester collection still did me wonders of many many ... Nananana Nananana BATMAN variety. I even managed to convince people that Demon was my sidekick (Robin) & after much pushing & prodding I managed to convince him that speaking to a girl in a club would not be a suicide mission (m0stly). Charlie saved the moth that somehow managed to crawl into the basement of the club using his bare hands. Saw Salaam Namaste at the cinema which was all I expected & more. Superb film. If you're gonna cathc a hindi film this month, its definitely the one, I can see it fetching awards when that time comes. Popz managed to hit another car while dreaming of Preity Zinta but came out unharmed. My father rang from the Unites States of INDIA while I was in his house sleeping in his bed. Thats the 2nd time this decade he's done that. Freaky Stuffs. The green place then called & I had pizza, chilli paneer, onion rings & then we all had ice cream. Amen!

Dukes Court??!

  By _ram-jaane' on September 7, 2005 8:10 PM | No Comments

ORANGE WEDNESDAY:  The Dukes of Hazard' ..
Runtime: 103m 45s - Cuts: 12 seconds - UK Rated: 12A
Tagline: Cousins. Outlaws. Thrillbillies.

Plot Outline
Cousins Bo (Seann William Scott) and Luke (Johnny Knoxville) Duke, with the assistance of their sexy cousin Daisy (Jessica Simpson) and their Uncle Jesse, must save the Duke family farm from destruction by the town's corrupt and evil commissioner Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds). Their efforts constantly find the "Duke Boys" eluding authorities in "The General Lee", the boys' orange 1969 Dodge Charger that keeps them one step ahead of the dimwitted antics of the small southern town's Sheriff.

Overall Impressions:
Total Stupidity. Voted one of the worst films ever, I say if you can handle it as what it is. Tis good fun. Leave your thinking caps at home & enjoy. Just don't expect a plot or much wit :)

40 Year Old Virgin

Better Late Than Never
The 40 Year Old Virgin' ..
Runtime: 115m 45s - UK Rated: 15
Tagline: The longer he waits the harder it gets.

Plot Outline
40-year-old Andy Stitzer (Steve Carrell) has done quite a few things in his life. He's got a cushy job stamping invoices at an electronics superstore, a nice apartment with a proud collection of action figures and comic books, good friends, a nice attitude. But there's just one little thing he hasn't quite gotten around to doing yet--something most people have done by his age. Done a lot. Andy's never, ever, ever had sex--not even by accident. So is that such a big deal? Well, for Andy's buds at the store, it sure is. Although they think he's a bit of an oddball, there's certainly a planet full of stranger (and homelier) guys who've at least had one go at having a go. They consider it their duty to help Andy out of his dire situation and go to great lengths to help him. But nothing proves effective enough to lure their friend out of lifelong chastity until he meets Trish (Catherine Keener), a 40-year-old mother of three. Andy's friends are psyched by the possibility that "it" may finally happen...until they hear that Andy and Trish have begun their relationship based on a mutual no-sex policy.

Overall Impressions:
This film totally belongs to Steve Carrell, you may remember him as the retard in Anchorman (the star of the show without a shred of doubt) but this one truly shows how versatile an actor he is, his comic timing is brilliant.

Relief washes over ..

After all that stressing the SRK event was cancelled for approx only 40 tickets were sold. The organisers have apparently fled as they don't really want to explain themselves. The irony lies in that the Princess, Charlie & Demon bought me a ticket. The sentiment counts for a lot & I didn't expect it. Overall I'm quite glad it panned out the way it did. Gave me a chance to re-assess my current situation & put me back on track as for future plans. Can't start slacking' :)

I also met with a high flyer friend that I've looked up to & who's always had his head screwed on, he seems to be a little stressed about the current debt situation he's got himself into but overall its invested money that just needs time to ripen. He'll be fine.
