xXx : The Next Level

Total Plank
xXx 2 : State of the Union' ..

The first xXx wasn't bad as a film & actually outshined Die Another Day in the same year. Vin Diesel was ideal for the role & did it well. The fact he didn't want to do the sequel in itself was a bad sign about this one. Adding to this they picked up the director of Die Another Day & settled with Ice Cube as the new agent. Though this raised further doubts, still I went in thinking this would be a total brain dead pile of dung that you could take for just that & enjoy. When I usually go in with this attitude I am pleasantly surprised with how 'not bad' a film turns out to be. This one unfortunately doesn't fit that category. The shaky camera work, the awful dialogue & the over the top unintentional cheese were the highlight for this one. Ice Cube has one single expression throughout & we wonder why Samuel L Jackson even bothered with this one. Willem Dafoe & Scott Speedman are good but wasted by extremely bad script.

Though its totally rare for me to say this: A total 2 thumbs down!
On the brighter side I was with good company, though they probably all hated me for putting them through this film for which I hope I'm forgiven. If not who knows I might make them watch the next one .. ?'
