The Amityville Horror' ..
Tagline: Katch 'em Kill 'em
Runtime: 89m 39s - UK Rated: 15
I've never seen the original or knew nothing much about this, apart from what the title suggests, its a horror. Though I'm not a great fam of the horror genre, I quite enjoyed this one. It has the right balance of eery atmosphere & unexpected moments to give your nerves a jerk.
Ryan Reynolds seems to be proving film after film that he's more than just a cheeky boy with a witty sense of humour. His work here is worth applause & strikes out more than the rest of the cast, though partly this may be due to his character having a large chunk in the script, its fair to say he does it full justice. The remaining cast suffice for their respective roles but non display histronics.
The concept has been seen before in Frailty & even The Shining. A man sees people as demons & feels compelled to kill them {sweeet}. Though the concept isn't original as such, its the way that its been handled that I found novel & refreshing. Worth a watch.

By current horror standards this is a pretty good film, far better than the trash being made at the moment. I agree with all points made, Ryan Reynolds does well, well worth a watch.
