nostalgic milk

  By _ram-jaane' on May 31, 2005 9:08 PM | 5 Comments

Do you remember getting small 1/3 pint bottles of milk at school?? Those were the days. If you were really good you'd get a biscuit too. I remember back then I hated the taste of milk, not much has changed, but I still miss those little bottles. Staring at all the full 1 pint bottles in the fridge at work reminded me of this. It also came up later in conversation with a colleague, as did the adventures of spot & how he kept losing his balls *chuckles* - ah good times'

Okay now a question for y'all ... the 80's were kool as were the 90's though less so ... what do we call the current 00 years apart from uncool??!

Generic Rant # 300505.1

Re: Philosphical Rant # 260505.1

In conjunction with the comments by Rachel & Captain CHC I had the afterthoughts that they were right & my thoughts were backed up by a nutter in a film. Film quotes always help you put things back into place during times of confusion. You know wether you believe what is said or not instantly & then you use it to get back up on your feet, claws, tentacles, whatever man.

IMAX Begins - 17th June!

  By _ram-jaane' on May 29, 2005 9:45 PM | No Comments

After seeing Trailer 4 of Batman Begins, I google'd the interweb & found that the biggest cinema screen in the UK is the bfi London IMAX Cinema It is a 477-seat, state-of-the-art, large-format cinema on the South Bank. It was opened in 1999 and was made possible thanks to £15 million from the Arts Council of England's Lottery Fund.

It has been decided by the powers that me, that this cinema must be visited & glorified with my presence on the release of this Batman Begins. Demon has verified his motives are the same. Charlie remains to take time off from his three workplaces & Farmer as usual will be at he farm & can't make it. An inevitable adventure awaits, no doubt about it, for the dark knight will rise & we shall cheer, whistle & jump with joy. Only a matter of weeks now. Releasing June 17th UK-wide

Sidenote: google is an actual word in the dictionary now, meaning to search.

Rise & Shine

  By _ram-jaane' on May 28, 2005 10:03 PM | 4 Comments

After an impressive stint of remaining out from 5pm to 1am. I returned home this m0rning & done that whole sleeping thing. At the rising at 10 maybe 11am I sent a message to a friend asking their plans as there was a possibility of my intervention within their plan. After finding this wasn't so, I asked another friend what they were up to, I got a response from their dead grandfather saying that they were sleeping. I done that whole dial-a-pizza have a shower & scoff it down upon its delivery all within an hour routine & then went back to sleep. I've risen once more from the semi-dead to make waves on the interweb using my credit card. This time its a sweet ass external USB2 dvd burner & a wireless router so that 'the wife' (PowerBook) can access the interweb while in bed with me.

Now all of a sudden I get a head rush as though one of those visions of somebody else's life is about to flash before me.. Nope my mistake its that all-new nudge function on MSN messanger 7.0 *shivers* So I'm informed of a new plan of action .. Round ROund get around!! BeachBoys Rule!! :D Gonna get another shower & watch a movie me thinx'

Lesson to Learn

  By _ram-jaane' on May 27, 2005 2:30 PM | 1 Comment

A professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and large, empty jar and proceeded to fill it with golfballs. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They once more agreed that it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an emphatic "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now" said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life"

Philosophical Rant # 260505.1

  By _ram-jaane' on May 26, 2005 8:00 PM | 9 Comments

They say "honesty is the best policy", would this make dishonesty second best? Furthermore, If you aim for the best & fail its the trying that counts, however what if you end up achieving second best, do you accept it? I mean I'm not stabbing guys & stealing from them {though I probably should}, I'm not doing drugs or sluts {coz thats plain wrong}. I'm not doing anything even mildly illegal, *chuckles* yet I'm not too happy with what I am doing. Why is this??

Redemption of Lucas

  By _ram-jaane' on May 25, 2005 11:33 PM | 4 Comments

R2D2 is a Hero!
ORANGE WEDNESDAY:   Star Wars: Episode III : Revenge of the Sith' ..
Runtime: 139m 59s - UK Rated: 12A

In a nutshell, George Lucas redeems himself. Admittedly I'm not a massive fan of the Star Wars franchise. I mean they are brilliant in their own right but maybe a tad overrated. Having said that I still say this one is for all those that found Episodes I and II a letdown, which can be easily agreed is most of mankind. I can see how this works well as a trilogy set of its own. An easy way for the hardcore fans of the original to introduce Star Wars to their kids & the younger generation since they progress steadily to a darker genre. Also a good place for introducing people to the cult. Teenagers will probably want to see the original after having seen this.

I'm not too sure you'd be able to watch them in order back to back though. The drop in effect from Episode III to IV will be quite a steep drop. General fans of good film won't mind though.

Overall Impressions: A must watch for even those who aren't fans of Star Wars. A definite treat visually.

An Exfoliating Scrub

  By _ram-jaane' on May 24, 2005 9:24 PM | No Comments

After years & years of being fascinated by the words & the x-files that I had read about it, I finally took up the investigation upon my own hands & bought an exfoliating shower gel. I've since discovered its magic in that it has some small amount of clay incorporated with a normal shower gel, to make it easy to scrub in its hard nature. I was a little dubious of its intentions initially, because the description made it sound like rubbing sandpaper against yourself, but after preliminary tests I remain impressed. *humming x-files_theme_tune*

Next week .. I'l be looking to use an herbal mint face mask. I'll keep y'all posted of my updates.

A Silent LiSP .. to a screeching halt'

  By _ram-jaane' on May 23, 2005 7:39 PM | No Comments

A thought: Isn't it something that the word lisp has an 's' in it. Could it be so those with a lisp would say they have a lip as though they were grateful to have it, or perhaps so they just give up & keep their lips shut?
~ Ram-Jaane (god-knows)

Sticking feathers up your butt," Tyler says, "does not make you a chicken". Well as a part of my prior mentioned adventure to Starbucks (Fcuk Yea'), my trip to the Guildford was actually a journey of self-discovery. I mean "what can you know about yourself if you haven't been in a fight" right? Uh - Whoops got sidetracked. My trip involved meeting an acquaintance (from 'The Agency') that has been promoted to the level of a friend.

Sipping latte's & scoffing chocolate cake, though can be thoroughly enjoyable on your own, its definitely a better experience with friends. I know this because Tyler knows this. Uh - Sidetracked again.

This entry is dedicated to that green black-haired friend I've made without paying the usual admin fee & ongoing monthly subscription (+ vat). His name was Robert Paulson .. *frustrated-sigh*
Right.. Enough of the sidetracking .. Its time I just let it out of my system ..

Jack's Back

Since most of my face never gets a chance to heal, I've got nothing to lose in the looks department. My boss, at work, he asked me what I was doing about the hole through my cheek that never heals. "When I drink coffee" I told him, "I put two fingers over the hole so it won't leak"

Round, Round, Get Around ...

  By _ram-jaane' on May 22, 2005 9:28 AM | 2 Comments

I get around .. Okay thats actually not true at all. Since my move to Chav Island I've only ever left to go back to Mini-India or to Central London to catch the odd film that Chav's aren't allowed to watch. But yesterday I decided: Ford Prefect {Hitchhiker's Guide} claimed to come from Guildford. Why Guildford? Whas there a reason that an alien would choose to claim their heritage was from Guildford. I went to investigate this & after liasing with a contact from 'The Agency' that had been planted here as a local student resident for preliminary research, I came across something far bigger than any discovery her research had put together in her 1 year there. A discovery beyond those man has ever made before...

Monster In Law

  By _ram-jaane' on May 21, 2005 11:38 PM | No Comments

Monster In Law' ..
Tagline: The relationship is going to be a real mother.
Runtime: 101m 10s - UK Rated: 12A

The title & tagline sums up exactly what this is going to be. A concept handled upteen times where a number of clashes between the in-law & the potential bride. You expect nothing but sheer stupidity & the film delivers. The reason I feel this film clicks is its selling you exactly what it says on the box. I've found Jennifer Lopez has a certain screen presence. I think her acting talent is pretty good. I must say she hasn't stood out all that much until the last few years. The Cell followed by Angel Eyes made her presence felt & she's maintaned a certain level of presence since. She manages to breeze through this role with quite some ease. Jane Fonda makes her return after 15 years to the silver screen. Her fans will certainly appreciate her return. I've not really seen any of her older film I don't think but I see the striking potential. Michael Vartan who most people will just know as Vaughn from Alias doesn't get much scope to outshine but certainly justifies his part & makes his presence felt.

Overall Impressions: A nice light entertainer. Probably more of a TV film that you catch around christmas but entertaining non the less.

Well deserved .. After this long week ...

The last time I had food from Pizza Hut was back in Guaremala with Charlie and The Demon. That was back on the 2nd of May. For anyone that knows me well enough they will know that its an achievement that I got through more than 2 days without the Pizza Hut franchise gaining a shiny penny from me. 18 days it has been. Today I am getting a Super Saver takeaway deal from them for £14.99 ..

This includes a large 12" Grand Pan Veggie-Hot-One with no green peppers, no onions & replaced with pineapple & sweetcorn, {better known as the 'ram special' in Leicester CTU branch} supplied with a portion of Garlic Bread, Potato Wedges & Tortilla Chips with salsa mozerella, jalapeno's & a sweet chilli dip.

Almost forgot to mention a 2 litre bottle mention Pepsi Max!!!

Random Rant # 190505.1

"The time to relax is when you don't have time for it" - A quote from the daily calendar on my desk at the office. Spot on though if you ask me. When people go on holidays they make time to supposedly relax. Would it not be worth more if they just took out a couple of moments ocassionally through their busy schedules to - breathe??

Who knows? Maybe breathing air isn't a necessity in the mordern civilisation as long as you are plugged into the mainframe world-wide interweb.

[rant pause .. 13:27] - gone for a breather, Translation: to *breathe* some.

Ramchandra za farmer??

  By _ram-jaane' on May 16, 2005 2:20 PM | No Comments

No .. Yea, Maybe, Not Really :)

After ploughing through 20,000 odd emails I find I stand in the time of harvesting more than my good looks, I am now required to do some real work. Do I feel sorry for myself? Not at all. I had the pleasure of meeting some old acquaintances & some current, they remind me once more I'm far better off. One year ago I would have been drowning in a reservoir far more deeper than this. Though being a student has many perks, this time of the year is my time. I point and snigger like a maniac.

The Amityville Horror : Katch 'em Kill 'em

  By _ram-jaane' on May 15, 2005 2:40 PM | 1 Comment

Nice Axe'
The Amityville Horror' ..
Tagline: Katch 'em Kill 'em
Runtime: 89m 39s - UK Rated: 15

I've never seen the original or knew nothing much about this, apart from what the title suggests, its a horror. Though I'm not a great fam of the horror genre, I quite enjoyed this one. It has the right balance of eery atmosphere & unexpected moments to give your nerves a jerk.

Ryan Reynolds seems to be proving film after film that he's more than just a cheeky boy with a witty sense of humour. His work here is worth applause & strikes out more than the rest of the cast, though partly this may be due to his character having a large chunk in the script, its fair to say he does it full justice. The remaining cast suffice for their respective roles but non display histronics.

The concept has been seen before in Frailty & even The Shining. A man sees people as demons & feels compelled to kill them {sweeet}. Though the concept isn't original as such, its the way that its been handled that I found novel & refreshing. Worth a watch.

xXx : The Next Level

  By _ram-jaane' on May 13, 2005 10:37 AM | No Comments

Total Plank
xXx 2 : State of the Union' ..

The first xXx wasn't bad as a film & actually outshined Die Another Day in the same year. Vin Diesel was ideal for the role & did it well. The fact he didn't want to do the sequel in itself was a bad sign about this one. Adding to this they picked up the director of Die Another Day & settled with Ice Cube as the new agent. Though this raised further doubts, still I went in thinking this would be a total brain dead pile of dung that you could take for just that & enjoy. When I usually go in with this attitude I am pleasantly surprised with how 'not bad' a film turns out to be. This one unfortunately doesn't fit that category. The shaky camera work, the awful dialogue & the over the top unintentional cheese were the highlight for this one. Ice Cube has one single expression throughout & we wonder why Samuel L Jackson even bothered with this one. Willem Dafoe & Scott Speedman are good but wasted by extremely bad script.

Though its totally rare for me to say this: A total 2 thumbs down!
On the brighter side I was with good company, though they probably all hated me for putting them through this film for which I hope I'm forgiven. If not who knows I might make them watch the next one .. ?'

The word 'warm' did not seem to suffice, Everything in my life was about to change, The off-silver colouring, the thickness of it, oh my god, I now own a Powerbook. Thats right. Love at first sight, its all true. It can happen & when you least expect it. {if you're getting one as a gift for example, if you ordered it online & eagerly awaited it like a nervous bunny with a cold since, then I guess you would expect it, but hey .. we're in a police station?? perhaps} *blush*

His claim to fame comes from loitering in areas it strictly says you shouldn't loiter, his name he stole from a feller who went by the name Charlie Chalk after beating him with a brick, or was it a horseshoe?! It gets difficult to keep track since the haze between the world of Sony's PS2 invention, Apple's Macintosh computer invention & the world wide interweb {aka World War I} is a haze in which he is lost. I know this because he knows this.

look at me, i'm out control'

Fida : Not all love stories have the perfect ending.

  By _ram-jaane' on May 6, 2005 11:24 AM | No Comments

Fida

Synopsis:
Jai (Shahid Kapur) has a vision of the perfect girl that he is going to fall in love with, and one day, he sees her. Because of his sheer determination and willingness to do anything for Neha (Kareena Kapoor), she also falls in love with him. Jai thinks theirs is the perfect love story, but somebody else is writing it.

In a nutshell:
Old skool action, New age story. Interesting fusion. A slightly above average entertainer of the commercial kind showing the new age viewer the old-skool formulae of cliche'd love stories with a more contemporary style & climaxing in a pessimistic outlook on their eventual outcomes - *ing Fardeen Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapur

Decency is Dead?

I found myself looking for matches in the big city of London but literelly everybody just ignores you. I mean you tap some guy on the shoulder to get their atention yet still find yourself ignored. Why I ask, is there no decency left or is it just one of those epiphanies I'm having? Am I even in existence? ~ ram-jaane

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy : DON'T PANIC

  By _ram-jaane' on May 4, 2005 11:16 PM | No Comments

Don't Panic
ORANGE WEDNESDAY:   The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' ..

If you know not of Douglas Adams & his works this film may come to you as rather random. The best description I can probably give is it has a Futurama type feel to it. Marvin {the manic depressed genius robot} voiced by Alan Rickman was definitely my favourite character. Sam Rockwell also stands out as the loud Austin Powers like character Zaphod Beeblebrox.

To me this was a feel good film, more a visual treat than anything else. The screenplay based on the book by Douglas Adams, does tend to divert a little from the book in a cheesy fashion. Cheesy in a most positive sense. Cheesy & comical, A must watch for a tickle on that funnybone.

For all those hardcore fans of the radio program & TV series, there are many small hommages & chuckles to be had, but if you're not you're still in for a treat. I don't think there is much to fault about this film. It doesn't require an in depth knowledge of anything & would work with anybody playing the characters but has a great starcast none the less. An all-round winner.

This is an exceptional start coming close to that of Veer-Zaara and excelling Black in its opening weekend had collected £ 66,284 [approx. Teaser Poster

  Worldwide Release - 29th April 2005'   |   Official Website'   |   Title Song

Runtime: 126 minutes (English subtitles in UK cinemas)

My mission to Leicester {land of indians in UK} last weekend was all about this film. As always I booked my day off to ensure I caught this on the day of release. Having been given a 15 certificate, I think even the teaser poster tells you clearly enough that this isn't another romantic comedy feel-good film. This is a genre rarely tackled in the sparkling world of Bollywood. With a tagline like 'Time to Die' you wonder if such a film would work with songs. If the mood of the songs are right, maybe so, but the writer has played it safe & decided against it. They've left the songs to merely background music which does work quite well. They've also compensated for the lack of songs by having two item numbers for the opening & closing credits of the film. The energetic 'Kaal Dhamaal' song in the opening is a highlight for the SRK fans out there, pairing him once more with Malaika Arora Khan. {Last seen in Dil Se (1998) which was the first Bollywood film to reach the Top-10 in the UK movie charts.}

'Kaal Dhamaal' sets the pace nicely for what is to follow ..

The Castle of VUe'

  By _ram-jaane' on May 2, 2005 11:27 PM | 1 Comment

Its like popping down & visiting your family after years to find you're now an uncle or a granparent, or like catching up on a soap opera after a long time, being introduced to all the new characters, seeing development in some of the old. A pleasant experience each & every time. I am referring to my visit to the Castle of VUe {Leicester}.

Once known as Warner Village, now the Castle of VUe .. I have many fond memories here. Many still to make I always feel. Every time I visit I always make new acquaintances here. The stud in the middle is me by the way. In case you couldn't recognise .. *cough*
