Batman Begins: Trailer # 4

  By _ram-jaane' on April 30, 2005 9:56 AM | 2 Comments
June 2005

"If you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal, you become something else entirely."
      "Which is? .. "
              "A legend'.. Mr. Wayne"

This is most definitely one of those rare films where each promo has confirmed furthermore that this film will rule. People out there are already comparing the look of it with Tim Burton's 'Batman' & say it compares well, but can't be as good, which is probably a reasonable comment. However I think its perfectly respectable that it is being compared to the best Dark Knight film out there, even before its release.

Amazing LEGO movie short (Spiderman 2)

  By _ram-jaane' on April 25, 2005 8:29 PM | 1 Comment
Lego at its best'

Though i must admit my level of construction was never great, I made nothing that looked anywhere as pretty, or of any use, but the fact that its possible, that you can create something of this much detail & film it, I found truly fascinating. A lot of time & effort has clearly gone into this. See for yourselves'

Warning: contains Spiderman 2 spoilers. :)

Coffee & Cigarettes

Coffee & Cigarettes

Description:
Jim Jarmusch has consistently wowed audiences with his truly distinctive cinematic vision. "Coffee & Cigarettes" proves once again that Jarmusch is a true original. This time around, the director tries his hand at the short film genre, delivering 11 shorts that are all based around the seemingly insignificant acts of drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes.

Review:
Initially I was expecting a bunch of clips put together about people who are enjoying their respective coffee & cigarettes. Although strictly speaking this isn't an incorrect description for the film, the appeal of this film is the independence of each scene, combined with its connectedness through theme, symbols & dialogue. Shot in an artistic black-and-white, over the course of a 17-year-period, 'Coffee And Cigarettes' is truly original, and has a certain flow about it that keeps you engrossed.

Consumption & Sleep is for the weak

  By _ram-jaane' on April 23, 2005 10:39 PM | 1 Comment

Ah well, weak I am then, I've managed to sleep most of today, I'm actually quite impressed. On a semi-related long lost cousin kind of topic, if you've been wondering why the consumption section of the blog suddenly disappeared, there are two reasons for this. The first being I found myself counting too many things & watching what I ate in too much detail & didn't want to make notes of that when I should be jotting down more important things like the number of badgers that fight rats in daylight, & secondly cause I simply can't be bothered with it any more. It has nothing whatsoever to do with going & getting a 15" pizza on thursday {like old times.} - Cowabunga!

Dorsia ... not Dorcia - I stand corrected

  By _ram-jaane' on April 22, 2005 5:22 PM | 1 Comment

There was a moment of panic as for a moment I thought I had no reservations for dinner. Cartman had thought this through & knew this would probably be the case. The relief washed over me when I heard from him & I was informed that he had reservations at Dorsia for eight, no nine, no eight. I wasn't even hungry but its good just to know you've got that reservation sometimes.

The Interpreter : The truth needs no translation.

The Interpreter
ORANGE WEDNESDAY:   The Interpreter' ..

To me this was a good film, not spectuacular, strangely not one that sticks with you after the show, but a nicely done, character driven film. Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman excel in roles that require specific talents. The screenplay keeps you thinking, but for me nothing reached out far enough to keep me thinking once the plot was unraveled. Certainly the best performance out of the stars is what makes this film above average, but not much else. For those interested only in watching a political thriller, this one's for you. For those that like to take a way a bunch of quotes or scenes away with them, perhaps you'll give this one a miss.

There is a nice thought that is mentioned from the african culture, it mentions that if a loved one is killed, & you avenge the killer you will mourn the death of the loved one your entire life, if you find it in yourself to forgive them, you will be able to move on. The accuracy of this statement is debatable, especially when vengeance is fresh in your mind but its certainly a deep and intense thought.

New DVD ... Whaddaya think??

  By _ram-jaane' on April 20, 2005 5:15 PM | 6 Comments

Bateman
Well this is an interesting find. They're releasing a new Uncut version of American Psycho this June. The current DVD has a bunch of deleted scenes, if it's just them added in to the feature I won't be too impressed, though they are going to add on 2 audio commentaries.

I do wonder if it will be any good, or if they're just cashing in on Christian Bale's current popularity increase with Batman Begins hitting the cinemas. It is conveniently being released on the 21st of June coinciding with the Dark Knight release. Region 1 only for now it seems, but it is pretty much inevitable that a region 2 release will follow in the coming months. No doubt I'll be buying the region 1 release & letting you know how awesome it is :) .. so keep your eyes open!

<- edit -> Preordered.   Going pretty cheap too, I'm impressed, wonder if it has a watermark?

Eight Years .. since 1997

  By _ram-jaane' on April 18, 2005 11:45 PM | No Comments

Its been eight years today since I first entered the world of cinema. What a coincidence that a few months later I was working there & today my old manager from that cinema rings, just asking how I am, kinda freaky really.

Many pleasant memories, many stressful nights spent there. It was one place I felt fully welcome. I remember the smell of an empty screen, the taste of popcorn within the air. The thursday advert change procedures, the friday showing for which the print would turn up just on time, or late. Having to run the first 20 minutes while preparing the rest of the film & then feeding it through in time so no spectator would ever need to know, ensuring each join was all in rack was also crucial. Those were the days. *sigh*

Quite impressed, they responded within 12 hours,
though it does seem a generic template & they could just be lying about taking consideration, I know now I've done my part to improve my habitat of a town. Wether it actually makes an impact .. Ram-Jaane

Starbucks .. Princess .. Cineworld

  By _ram-jaane' on April 17, 2005 9:58 PM | 1 Comment

I met 'the princess'* after many many years of exile. It was truly magical, we had coffee like old times, caught up with the small talk & some more larger than life talk, yet as always the clock wound faster than the word flow, & the time for our parting came sooner than wanted or anticipated. I always have a hundred odd things I should talk about, I usually end up talking about the 3 least significant topics. Today was no different. Still it was just a passively nice time. Chilled out, relaxed, warm.

[Yes I am aware that chilled out & warm contradict each other if taken literally, but I know what I'm talking about :) this is a true characteristic of a number 2 person. To contradict themselves in a 3rd party perspective, yet not care because they feel they know what they mean & to them, that's all that matters.]

After loitering the streets of london & finding the handprints of Academy Award Winner: Denzel Washington I decided upon my next target: Cineworld Ilford {details later on another post}. I now have returned with many stories to tell & little energy to tell them with. So basically .. going Zzzzz

I picked up my insurance documents that were sent by recorded delivery by my farjer from the post office, then went into the town centre, played 2 games of bowling on my own scoring 80 followed by 94, then returned home promptly to my maximum security stockade. Everything is ready to be processed, its been a full week now, Frankie is gone, apparently I could have hired another car & claimed that back from insurance too. I have no such intentions. I'm looking around now, I'm going to get a bike. Just like Street Hawk except no way as fast & without the engine, or exhaust or much else to that effect, except I do want brakes & gears I suppose ... ooh & wheels, I definitely want wheels!

Introducing Demon ...

  By _ram-jaane' on April 16, 2005 6:57 PM | 1 Comment

Today I was told by this feller: "Hey I saw a rather nice gun the other day actually - you'd love it - it was frickin huge!" He isn't at all wrong, but this should sum up his character for you.
Za Daemon
He loves the colour red. He writes with extreme care so that no handwriting expert could ever trace a shred of emotion, & he's The Demon. The son of satan mingling with the middle class population. Not a demon, the demon.

Surprise Surprise ..

  By _ram-jaane' on April 15, 2005 11:17 PM | No Comments

No not that corny Cilla Black program that I entirely deny any knowledge of. To my surprise {sarcasm intended} we ended up at the local pub & soon after for a curry, you'll see how this affects my consumption below.

Discovery: The mug that I use at work can hold a full 330ml can & has just enough extra capacity that you can comfortably carry a full mug aroung. This will be useful for all my stalkers out there who want to know how much coffee/orange juice I drink ;)

The curry place wasn't bad, however nowhere near the standards I am used to. For one they were playing a CD on repeat of some random songs from 60's films that weren't even popular. The only decent song {Main Hoon Na - Title Song) they played was out of the blue & didn't fit in with the rest of the supposed soundtrack. The service was friendly I give them full credit there, & even the food was not bad for a toned down indian curry house more so for meat eaters than vegetarians which is what it was. The portion sizes were fairly reasonable.

I feel I may need to pay them a visit with a sample CD of what kindof music they should be playing, If I establish myself in this little town the way I was back in Leicester, it'd mean discounts everywhere. Something to add to my infinite to-do list.

£1150 grievance payout for Frankie

  By _ram-jaane' on April 14, 2005 10:52 PM | 2 Comments

I've had an offer on late Frankie {my dead car) by the ever so nice people at Norwich Union for £1150/- which I'd say I'm fairly happy with. Though more would have always broadened my pretty smile.

A busy day at work would usually mean many discoveries & thoughtful ventures, today was more of a breather, the soothing silent calm before that friday storm. Well time {approxiamtely 1 day} will tell if this is actually true or not, but I am certain that it also being the day where money input of the large monthly sort is made into our respective bank accounts means a pub crawl after work is inevitable.

That Lestat feller is back on day shifts after a 10pm finish today, so it will be an amusing sight in the morning I'm sure.

Surviving through events ..

Good Deed: Not to mention to a certain colleague that my dvd collection is definitely larger than his, a willpower game with myself really. Fighting the temptation. It wouldn't have any advantages apart from a further ego boost for me & the exact opposite for the other party..

Discovery: I have a colleague in the company called Chris Lambert .. "In the end there will be only one". In addition we had a 6-monthly company meeting in which I have discovered that we're bigger than we appear. World domination isn't quite on the to-do list, but knowing myself, if it rubs of on the company, its more than likely to aid me.

ORANGE WEDNESDAY:   Be Cool'

Consumption
A black bean chinese curry with boiled rice from a tribal Vietnamese couple served in an isolated hut deep in the jungles of Woking. Okay so it's actually a caravan parked outside the market, but I still had a mighty adventure getting there. After battling 2 Arriva busses & numerous other vehicles that tried obstructing my way*, I had no choice but to stop at the caravan for rest & sustenance. The journey back to the palace of RoyalBlue was much a smoother transition.

A Record Breaking Year ...

  By _ram-jaane' on April 12, 2005 1:46 PM | No Comments

Well I got 5 text (sms) messages, 6 cards, (3 of which were from "The Princess"), 2 emails, 3 phone calls & 1 online greeting card. Its definitely a new personal record. I should add that I got myself a cool little present too. I always do spoil myself. "It's a bird, It's a plane flame, .. Its a firebird! :) I thought it went into the theme of current ongoings nicely.

Well in my books, birthdays are so yesterday, so moving swiftly on ..
I've learnt something today. I've learnt that sometimes simplicity is the answer, yet sometimes ... 'Nothing' is.

Well has to be said, this (so far) is one of my better birthdays. It is past noon {the time of my birth} and so I am a full 23 years old, plus an hour & a bit.

Though I am at work, it's been positive, even the weather is waRm'.

The scottish co-worker of mine who will be referred to as 'Lestat' has assigned me an important call with regards to a printer not working. Me & my boys are on it. Spacesuits on, the time has come .. To the batcave!

Yo Frankie .. R.I.P

  By _ram-jaane' on April 9, 2005 6:30 PM | No Comments

Frank Castle is dead because he was in the boot of my car. Well, I had a Punisher poster in there. It all began 2 days ago when I got a call from "the farmer". He didn't have my new address & wanted it to send me something, or so he claimed. He asked for my postcode, followed by my street name, & I voluntarily gave him the door number, being the nice guy that I am & knowing very well the idiot that he could be. That was 2 days ago.

Facts: R.I.P. = Rest In Parts

  By _ram-jaane' on April 9, 2005 5:26 PM | No Comments

Next door neighbour was fixing something under his car when it caused some kind of chemical reaction between chemicals that shouldn't have been presnt which caused the explosion. He was badly injured {major burns} & taken to hospital. I believe he still is being kept there.

P339JBC

The explosion set the whole car alight & the fire spread & set mine alight too. I have made a point of offering any help to the neighbour if required. Wasn't the best of times but I did introduce myself to the remainder of the family as I hadn't ever spoken to them before.

Its all happening about now ..

Those who do evil to others. The killers, the rapists, psychos, sadists, will come to know me well. Frank Castle is dead. They call me - The Punisher

I thought I'd start my Blog with a good cheesy quote, for all the cheese & chips I lack in my diet as of recent.

1st post for testing; mild edits; going well so far :)
